Miracle Has a Monster tells the transformative story of Miracle Williams, an ordinary student who carries an invisible "worry monster" that silences her voice with fears and doubts until she must face her greatest challenge—presenting to her entire class. Through her mother's loving guidance, Miracle discovers powerful breathing techniques, grounding exercises, and mindfulness practices that help her monster shrink and reveal the truth: everyone has monsters, but she has the power to overcome hers.
Author Emily Metheny, an elementary education major at Loyola University Maryland personally struggled with anxiety since preschool. She created this story to provide the tangible representation of anxiety and empowerment tools she wished she'd had as a child, drawing from her lived experience and classroom work with students facing loss and separation.
