About Us:
Truth for Our Youth (by J Ellington Publishing) is a new start-up media publication dedicated to empowering young students through literacy, creativity, and meaningful engagement. Our mission is to redefine education by connecting students to the real world through their original writing, poetry, and language learning experiences. We mobilize college students to design and implement educational projects that align with their academic, social, and public passions, inspiring K-12 students to engage with learning in a way that resonates with them and prepares them for the future. We strategically use video and media to engage students in action not just consumption.
The founder of J Ellington Publishing and Truth for Our Youth is focused on scaling a national movement toward well-being and social impact. He is a Hamilton Award Winner for Outstanding Contributions to the Cause of Behavioral Health and Individuals with Disabilities.
Internship Overview:
Truth for Our Youth seeks an intern to support college students interested in K-12 education innovation and creative ways to promote new ways for student learning, including AI. This unpaid role provides valuable experience in researching and K-+2 learning and developing content that educates and mobilizes students to engage in meaningful social change. The ideal candidate is passionate about education, public health, social justice, and empowering young people to make a difference.
Key Responsibilities:
College Student Mobilization and Collaboration:

Help recruit, train, and manage college student groups, encouraging them to brainstorm and develop unique project ideas that reflect their own academic and personal interests.

Help create opportunities for college student groups to collaborate, share ideas, and innovate new ways of teaching through curriculum that speaks to today’s K-12 learners.

Help provide mentorship and guidance to ensure that projects are developmentally appropriate, inclusive, and impactful for young learners.
Authentic Learning for K-12 Students:

Facilitate the design of hands-on, project-based learning experiences that connect K-12 students with subjects in a meaningful way, including STEM, social justice, environmental studies, and other areas of interest.

Help with the creation of adaptable curriculum resources that teachers can easily implement, allowing students to explore and apply knowledge through authentic, real-world projects.

Help build and manage feedback mechanisms to measure the engagement, relevance, and impact of projects on K-12 students, ensuring they foster a deep connection to learning.
Quarterly Celebrations and Annual Scholarship:

Help organize quarterly showcases that recognize and celebrate the creative curriculum ideas developed by college student groups.

Help promote annual scholarship program that rewards the most innovative and impactful projects, encouraging a culture of creativity and forward-thinking in educational design.

Help coordinate events and ceremonies that bring together mentors, educators, students, and community members to celebrate achievements and inspire future participation.
Service Learning and Community Engagement:

Help partner with community organizations, nonprofits, and local leaders to provide additional opportunities for project-based learning that links classroom subjects with real-world community needs.

Help guide college students in developing service-learning components within their projects, fostering a sense of social responsibility and community impact in younger students.

Help facilitate connections between students and professionals in various fields to provide mentorship, exposure, and inspiration for potential career paths.
Content Development & Education:

Assist in creating educational content for digital platforms, including articles, social media posts, infographics, and reports, that make K12 learning accessible to young audiences.

Collaborate with the content team to produce compelling resources that empower students to understand and engage in social impact.

Support the development of toolkits, fact sheets, and other materials that provide actionable information for students interested in health equity and policy change.

Qualifications:

Currently enrolled in a two-year, four-year, or graduate program at an institution of higher learning.

Strong interest in K-12 education.

Excellent research, writing, and communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and accessible way.

Familiarity with social media and digital communication tools; experience with content creation is a plus.

Self-motivated, organized, and able to work collaboratively in a remote environment.
